Reminds me of what happened after the psychiatric patients were deinstitutionalized and later became homeless, creating an implicit bias about the nature of people who become that way. The institution in question has a broad range, which makes the arrival and onset very nuanced. Now this same mechanism is at work again it seems. It's an astonishing thing to behold.

"...For one thing, as Schwartz pointed out, things are getting more stressful in many real ways. 'I think both of those articles missed the fact that there are real stresses,” said Schwartz. ' The world feels like a really anxious place for young people in many important ways. I think there’s incredible uncertainty about their economic and job prospects in five and ten and 20 years, and if you listen to the news it’s hard not to be somewhat anxious.”
"...in the last couple decades, counseling centers have found themselves increasingly — and unfamiliarly — taking on the roles of frontline mental-health service providers."
“Access to services really just diminished in many areas of the country through the 1990s and 2000s, and schools were faced with picking up the slack,” said Schwartz.
Some experts, such as E. Fuller Torrey, have considered deinstitutionalisation to be a failure, while some consider many aspects of institutionalization to have been worse. http://guilfordjournals.com/…/abs/10.1521/psyc.2010.73.2.122

On the nature of your government: the Citizens, the States, and the Federal Government

  • When the Constitution was written, it was the intent of the authors to balance power between three distinct factions: the federal government, the state governments, and the people living under these governments. The federal government needed some power to be effective, but that power needed to be checked by both the people and the governments of the individual states. The check on federal power given to the people by the Constitution as it was originally written was the power to elect the members of the House of representatives. The check on federal power given to the state governments by the Constitution as it was originally written was the power to appoint and recall (fire) Senators. Since the ratification of the 17th Amendment (election of Senators by the people), state governments have had NO voice in the actions of the federal government. The balance of power was shifted. State governments became much, much weaker as a result.

  • Because the current system incentivizes Senators to sit in Washington exchanging promises for campaign donations with K-street lobbyists. The Senate was designed as the States' representative body in the Federal Gov't. As such, it makes sense for the states' governing bodies to appoint their representatives. They are currently elected on the whims the the corporate check writers. The 17th Amendment corrupted the balance of the legislative branch.
The House of Reps is meant to represent the people, hence their numbers being proportionate to the populations of the states.

What a wet blanket?

A lot of what she's doing is actually minimizing the people who are vehemently discriminated against. Poor Black folk. Even poor White folk have it bad. Poor people have it bad! People who move into any neighborhood where they don't seem to belong are made to FEEL bad. This isn't isolated to just people of color. Some of this is just the trials and travails of being effaced by the reality of human nature!

Half the her so-called moments of perceived racism aren't actually racism. They don't even hold up to passive scrutiny. It is she who is privileged and are trying to exonerate herself among those who would be envious of you, or rather, you seek social prestige due to your virtues of being privileged. You seem to fraternize enough to know how this benefits you: re-imagining all your personal slights as insult to injury, belying racism and privileges due to your class 'pedigree', behind a fort of lace. This is the type that is smug, entitled, elitist, privileged, and sheltered. Being able to have a perceived chip on her shoulder in order to show other's who identify with her, due to the color of her skin, as being one of them.

Racism will end in this country when people realize we are separated by Class and not Race predominantly, but you keep insisting things you experience are racism, when they are in fact not mutually exclusive to you, regardless of your ethnicity.

"the white privilege in this situation is being able to move into a “nice” neighborhood and be accepted not harassed, made to feel unwelcome, or prone to acts of vandalism and hostility."
This was in reference to boys who threw rocks into her family's pool. What about all the kids who teepee houses during Halloween or other such pranks upon their unsuspecting White neighbors, as if it makes a difference, broadly. And yes, I am speaking broadly, because in a sardonic fashion I am making light of her perceived slight. I'm not trying to garner sympathy, but simply point out that there is not advantage to being White among other White folk unless they think you are of the same stratification as them, regardless of the color of your skin.

This article doesn't even hold up to passive scrutiny... As someone who has had many privileges due to my social class, I easily see thru her bullshit, and also recognize that my family is a lot different than other White families. The perception of White people is beyond ridiculous. We come in many different stripes.
My family moved into a predominantly white neighborhood, but we weren't perceived to be of the same class as them, and so we were scrutinized. What gives? Sometimes you have to work extra hard in order to convince people through your actions due to implicit biases that seek to undermine you as an individual.
Those kids just so happened to be boys, who are much more aggressive than girls, and need to be learn how to discipline themselves from impulses much more than most young girls. This includes having respect for other's personal property as not an extension of their pranks.

Debunking apologists for Hillary among other things

An article and video post by Ezra Klein is seeking to win us over with his apologetics on behalf of the Clinton and not the American people. The question is what does he have to gain from this? Does he support the Israeli occupation of Palestine, who knows, I"ll have to research that, but I will be damned if I let my friends absorb this bull shit without an antidote. Why is it that both Isaac Saul and Ezra Klein, both of Jewish descent, have similar views? It would take a wordsmith to exonerate Clinton as anything other than un-electable.

This is an interesting video about Hillary Clinton (which touches both on her positive and negative sides).
No, I don't believe she is perfect (unlike you and me, of-course ;)). I'm most concerned about potential big money influences.
However, I don't believe that she is the demon about which people seem to be frothing at the mouths. She has touched many lives for the better during her decades of public service. She and Trump are worlds apart. The idea that people conflate the two mystifies me. Decades of conservative propoganda has been accepted as truth. If you deeply detest Hillary, it logically follows to hate Obama and others with the same fervor (also imperfect politicians working in the system).
Trump is a narcissistic, potentially sociopathic, racist, misogynistic, totally incompetent and out of control bully. He is riling up and betting on the worst parts of human nature. He may be a low bar to clear, but Hillary Clinton is far more competent, measured, thoughtful, experienced, focused and caring.
Yes, I do think our country needs something better than a two party system. I 100% agree and support everyone's right to vote with their conscience and heart. I know plenty of people who support Stein and I understand.
That said, I'm with Bernie in that I don't think we're going to get it during this presidential election. If we really want to make a change, we need to focus on pushing our agenda on current politicians (as Bernie has with Clinton) and on winning smaller elections. It's more work and takes more focus and effort, so a lot of people just want to throw their hats in and give up and complain, but it is well worth it. If you really care, please, get involved in local politics! You can make a difference!!
This is what a dear friend said regarding this issue.

Still bullshit. Won't vote for her and have followed her and Bill for 20 years. People forget the laissez-faire attitude politicians have with each other and the attitudes of the rich. This is just more PR for catastrophic policy she has contributed towards. Accepting bribes as Secretary of State through the Clinton Foundation? "You're still working for Hillary even when you're not?" This journalist seems very malleable, weak-willed, and susceptible to the opinions of others in a very gullible way.

Hillary listens to others so she can adopt their position without changing hers. I know this behavior, because I do it. Clinton always seeks ways to be woefully ignorant in order to justify her bad decisions, because they aren't just bad decisions - they are calculated. Her training as a lawyer has taught her the value of being in a state of plausible deniability, because like water, you can do anything when you are receptive. Listening with the intention to dominant versus listening with the intention to emphathize are two different things. Concern or conceit?

She's a great career politician, but that's not all we need. This is an election of beggars and it's quite pathetic. This is one of the most calculated elections we've had, even the fact that Trump is her opponent in order to make her ascension palatable is a farce. I find it odd that their two daughters know each other so well and have been socialized together would have some kind of contempt for the other, but instead there is prestige, consideration, and elevation of their virtues and those of their dominant parents whom all respect is given, because it elevates them socially, too. The greatest conspiracy would be that these two families are actually working together for one last go of neolib/neocon catastrophe that the Clinton's engendered into our economy. Ron Paul revolutionized the Republican party, and the Republicans scoffed at him in a very conceited way. They ignored the struggle, it festered, and destroyed the Republican party allowing and propping up the weakest Republican candidates in history. Neoliberalism and neoconservativism are turning into neofascism right before our eyes. Real conservatives and real liberals, which are the majority, are looked upon with contempt in this country when we are the voting majority. They are both authoritarians and their game is coming to an end, like the vampire squids they are. We will get what we deserve.

You cannot exonerate Hillary by mentioning Trump in the same sentence. It is disingenous of course. Similarly, you cannot play the apologist, because that's what she wants from you. It is a double bind scenario and so I'd rather not participate in their collusion. Still voting for anything but these two candidates. They are dog shit and both pushing us towards neofascism with their militarism. It makes my blood boil that he can in this very candid way, build up our esteem of her, and her condoning the Iraq War, because she put her trust in those that she had no business trusting unless she was in favor of American interventionism and militarism, which she has in recent years profited from.. She clearly hasn't learned from her time as Secretary of State, increasing militarism across the World. She's not 'learning on her feet' so to speak, you are in my opinion, should you choose to vote for either Trump or HIllary.

Isaac Saul wrote a similar piece JUST like this and the question remains, why are they apologising for a criminal? Which leads me to implore them and begs the question, "Do you support the military occupation of Israeli forces of the Palestinian people?" You know, because those are their people, too. And Hillary is their guarantor in all appearances.. I care nothing for the pretense of others who guise around others. It doesn't hold up to scrutiny. It is in this same way that another Jewish comedian told those who supporter Bernie Sanders who made a huge uproar and left that they were "being ridiculous", but got away with it because she lavishly praised Bernie during his campaign. *clapclap* It's great to be able to see irony and pretense, holding up liberal values, but it is disingenuous to capitulate to Militarism and election fraud.
